Jan Cabri
Biografie
Jan Cabri recieved his PhD in Physical Therapy and Motor Rehabilitation Sciences in 1989 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) where he was appointed associate professor at the Faculty of Medicine since 1992. From 1996 to 2009 he was a visiting professor at the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Human Kinetics (Portugal). From 2009 to 2014 he acted as the Head of the Department of Physical Performance at the Norwegian School of Sport and Physical Sciences (Norway) and was appointed as full a professor in biomechanics until 2019. From 2029 to 2025, he was the scientific director at the non-profit Luxembourg Institute of Research in Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine and Science (LIROMS asbl) and closely involved in the Laboratory of Human Motion (HML). He also acted as the Chief Scientific Expert of the Luxembourg Institute of High Performance in Sports (LIHPS) and the "architect" of the high-performance sports biomechanics lab aka the Sportfabrik.During that time, he was one of the academic coordinators of the VUB-based Luxembourg chair for translational research in human motion, sports injury prevention and health.
He taught anatomy, biomechanics and research methodology. His research interests are mainly in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, applied sports biomechanics and kinesiologic electromyography. He published more than 170 scientific papers and edited chapters in 14 books.
In 2025, he joined the MFYS and Sportsphysiotherapy research group as a scientific collaborator in various biomechanics related projects.
