Jan Cabri
Biography
Jan Cabri obtained his PhD in Physiotherapy and Movement Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) in 1989, where he has been an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine since 1992. From 1996 to 2009, he was a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Movement Sciences of the University of Lisbon (Portugal). From 2009 to 2014, he was Head of the Department of Physical Performance at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and Professor of Biomechanics until 2019. From 2029 to 2025, he was Scientific Director of the non-profit Luxembourg Institute for Research in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Science (LIROMS asbl) and closely involved with the Laboratory for Human Movement (HML). He was also Chief Scientific Expert of the Luxembourg Institute of High Performance in Sports (LIHPS) and the "architect" of the biomechanical laboratory for elite sports, also known as the Sportfabrik. During that time, he was one of the academic coordinators of the VUB-affiliated chair for translational research into human movement, sports injury prevention, and health.
He taught anatomy, biomechanics, and research methodology. His research interests lie primarily in the fields of musculoskeletal physiotherapy, applied sports biomechanics, and kinesiological electromyography. He published more than 170 scientific articles and edited chapters in 14 books.
