Alexandre Maricot

PhD student, PhD students

CURRENT (AND PREVIOUS) FUNCTION: Alexandre Maricot graduated in 2020 with a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences and Sports Physiotherapy at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and is currently a predoctoral researcher at the research group Human Physiology and Sports Physiotherapy, Faculty LK of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

RESEARCH AREA: Alexandre's main research interests are the interactions between the brain and sports injuries within sports injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-sports contexts. Alexandre's current research focuses on how the brain adapts after a ligamentous sports injury. In addition, he studies how neurocognition affects (re-)injury risk and functional performance in different contexts. Understanding how the brain adapts after an injury can lead to new treatment strategies and a safer return to sport.
