Manon Roose is a predoctoral researcher affiliated with the Human Physiology and Sports Physiotherapy research group and the MRI Department of UZ Brussel. She obtained her Master of Science in Movement and Sport Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in June 2021.
Manon conducts research on mental fatigue, focusing on its cognitive consequences and the neural mechanisms underlying this psychobiological condition. Despite evidence for the effects of mental fatigue, the processes that drive this condition are still not fully understood. Her project aims to provide fundamental insight into mental fatigue by using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to localize the brain regions and networks involved. In addition, she applies magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to examine metabolic changes in the brain areas associated with mental fatigue. Beyond neuroimaging, Manon contributes to methodological MRI research, applying deep learning-based acquisition and reconstruction approaches for whole-body MRI, as well as ultrashort echo time (UTE) sequences for quantitative BoneMRI.
